I definitely prefer Pevear/Volokhonsky to Garnett as translators of Russian works. "Anna Karenina" tells of the doomed love affair between the sensuous and rebellious Anna and the dashing officer, Count Vronsky. This is about Pevear and Volokhonsky who translate Russian literature into English. This may seem awkward to read, but it's What Is Art?, Anna Karenina, War and Peace, The Death of Ivan Ilyich and Other Stories, and Hadji Murat are the Tolstoy writings the pair have translated.
