The mote in God's Eye, written by Larry Niven and Jerry Pournelle and published in 1975, is one of the most famous novels of what is called 'hard science fiction'. PopSci shamelessly stole it from the title of Larry Niven's book, “The Mote in God's Eye”. Arguably the best story about first contact ever written. To celebrate, this blog post contains no poetry.
